Slide Show ~ Reconstruction of Main Building: Inside and Out

After a devastating fire in our main building at OLLU, faculty and students were left to pick up the pieces. In honor of the restoration process, I made this slide-show with Mac Final Cut Pro.  Thanks to the help of my two group members, Katherine Rodriguez and Collette Orquiz, we were able to complete this as one of our assignments for my Online Journalism class. This was only my second time using this program.  I sat in front of the computer for about three hours before I was able to add a transition to the photos, but once I got it, time (aka: days) passed by rather quickly! I was able to add motion, sound and music to still pictures. I look forward to doing more slide-shows such as this, perhaps one to highlight my time at Our Lady of the Lake University. Enjoy!

Family Arts Festival at Bonham ~ March 26, 2010

Family Arts Festival at Bonham Elementary

Last month, It honored me to take part in the Family Arts Festival at Bonham Elementary, on behalf of Gemini Ink. All of the kids were having so much fun with arts and crafts, getting their faces painted, dancing, and poetry. The Jazz Poet Society put on a great show, while allowing the children to participate by reading poems based on their lives at school! Anisa from Gemini Ink made small books to pass out with a short, inspiring poem on one side and a blank page on the other side so that the children could write their own poem. Not many children took too much time to write a poem, but it was fun reading them the poems and explaining to them what the poems meant!

As an intern for Gemini Ink, I was given the assignment to ask a few professors questions about what they were reading.  I chose to feature Howard Benoist, professor at Our Lady of The Lake University, who told me about a fascinating book  he highly recommends!  I enjoyed doing this project and it was great to see the professors put so much thought into their responses.

Feel free to read my first Gemini Ink Blog!

I am currently starting an internship at Gemini Ink, which I am very excited about. I have my first assignment today! I have to drop off pamphlets about their literary programs to the English and communications Department Chairs. Off I go! Goodbye world! (for now)
